Located in Montalcino in the province of Siena, the Patrizia Cencioni winery is a family-run business founded in 1989 and currently managed by Patrizia and her two daughters. The estate extends over approximately 50 hectares of land, including 7 hectares of olive groves and another 10 hectares of vineyards. The Sangiovese grapes come from vineyards located approximately 350 meters above sea level on mixed soils of clay, sand, and marl. The vines, planted between 1988 and 2022, enjoy northeast/east exposure. After selection and manual harvesting, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, and the finished wine ages for 30 months in oak barrels before further aging in concrete. In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino Patrizia Cencioni reveals a clear and brilliant ruby color with some light garnet nuances. Its aromatic profile is rich and fragrant, with fruity notes of sour cherry and red orange, wild berries, and violets, followed by hints of tobacco and licorice, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it is broad and complex, energetic, and flavorful. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, and the finish is long and elegant. Try it with pappardelle with wild boar sauce, red meat stews, and aged cheeses.
