Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it an hour before service. Located south of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, Domaine Roger Belland is a family-run winery with a tradition spanning six generations. The vineyards extend over approximately 23 hectares and are managed according to the principles of Lutte Raisonnée, fully respecting nature and the terroir. The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand from a vineyard of just under one hectare, located in the "Commes-Dessus" area, 500 meters from Chassagne Montrachet near Santenay "Beauregard" and Santenay "Commes." Here, the 30-year-old vines enjoy a southeast exposure and grow in clay-limestone and stony soils. After harvesting, the wine is traditionally vinified in barrels, where it ages for six months. In the glass, the Santenay Comme-Dessus reveals a brilliant pale gold color with silver highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and expressive, with notes of citrus and exotic fruit intertwined with floral notes of acacia and lime, and light honeyed undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and lively, with refreshing, well-balanced acidity and a distinct minerality. It has a good body and a long, gently saline finish. It pairs excellently with snails à la Bourguignonne and seafood.
