Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in 1972, Clos du Val is a third-generation family-run California winery located in Napa Valley, specifically in the Stags Leap District. The winery produces a range of Bordeaux-style wines and rose to prominence in 1976 when it joined forces with Château Montelena and other local producers to compete with French wines in what is now known as the "Judgment of Paris." The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested from Clos du Val's Hirondelle estate. Here, the vines enjoy exceptional conditions, with a climate cooled by coastal winds and soil created by the erosion of volcanic cliffs. The vines are cultivated with great care and attention, promoting biodiversity and natural cycles, with total respect for the land, to produce high-quality wines. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep purple color. Its aromatic profile is intense and broad, with notes of blackcurrant and cassis, chocolate and blackberry jam, coffee, spices, and dried herbs. On the palate, it is rich and powerful, concentrated, and smooth. It is a bold and characterful wine with great intensity of flavors and a full body. It has firm yet silky tannins and a long, concentrated finish where the aromas perceived on the nose intertwine. It is a perfect choice with red meat, especially with filet mignon and beef Wellington.
